A Rabbit's Tale 8/16/2012

Amidst Nature's Splendor
By Kale Liam Hobbes

In all their glory, our cemeteries are groomed gardens of stone

Tranquil galleries of granite amidst nature’s splendor

Serene libraries of limestone proud to display

(Photo Courtesy of Vernakes family collection)

The craftsmanship of the skilled artisans that carved them.

Well-worn paths wind through these outdoor memorials

Opening different chapters to times long before

Standing among the regimented rows of our military’s fallen

Or the modest menageries of our earliest pioneers.

Alone, each piece is a testament of personal achievement, sacrifice, devotion and pride

But together, it becomes overwhelmingly tangible

As we become the latest part of its history.

Beautiful post! The 6th photo, showing the hand with the chain --- that's unusual, and the carving is so clear! Very cool. :)
